Emily Garcia was born in Los Angeles, CA and identifies as Salvadoran-American. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with her Bachelor of Social Work in 2015 and her Master of Social Work in 2017. Emily is currently a licensed social worker in the state of Nevada who is pursuing her clinical license at Eagle Quest. Emily has worked with various non-profit organizations, including The Rape Crisis Center, proving education programming to high school students. Most recently, Emily was working as a school social worker at an alternative learning chapter school. Her motivation to seek her clinical internship came from the desire to expand her skillset to be able to address the mental health needs she was seeing in her own students. Currently, Emily works with juvenile perpetuators of sexual abuse. She uses the following evidence-based treatment techniques: trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, family behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy. In her spare time, Emily enjoys spending time with her grandparents, traveling, going to concerts, and attempting to do yoga.
