Eagle Quest Partners With Community To Distribute School Supplies

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Officials say more than 1,000 children who are currently in Las Vegas-area foster care are going to be able to pick out school supplies under a program underwritten by several public and charitable agencies.

Clark County Department of Family Services spokeswoman Samantha Charles says kids will keep the donated backpacks they’ll fill with back-to-school items Thursday morning at the Juvenile Justice Center gymnasium.

Peggy’s Attic, Foster Kinship, Eagle Quest, Fostering Southern Nevada, SAFY, Foster Change and Canyon Ridge are among those taking part.

Three Square Food Bank is promising food baskets, snacks and bottled water to foster care families.

Officials say there are about 3,000 children in Family Services care looking for temporary homes in the Las Vegas area.

In times of stress, how do you make “you” time?

There you go with that “S” word again! Stress is a factor that influences our ability to be the best parents we can be. It is important to understand that stress can come from positive or negative situations. Having a new addition to the family, birthdays, relative visits, the holidays, an irate boss or coworker, or financial problems can all cause us stress. When we are stressed, we may find ourselves having less patience or time to be there for our kids, which can result in power struggles or family conflict. In order to be the best you can be, it is important to remember that we must MAKE TIME FOR OURSELVES. Making time for ourselves and participating in self-care activities can give us more energy to proactively deal with life situations. Taking care of yourself is as easy as, reading a book, taking a relaxing bath, listening to music, exercising, or talking to friends. Making a little “you” time can go a long way!

Teen Girls in Foster Care are Given Experience of Life Time

Eagle Quest, Inc., That ADOPTED Girl, JM Hair Gallery and Lindo Michochan partner to give underprivileged teen girls a well-rounded, confidence-building experience.EQ-pr-sweet-1-18-01

Las Vegas, NV — January 18, 2016. Eagle Quest, Inc. partnered with That ADOPTED Girl to host the first annual S.W.E.E.T. event. In attendance were twenty underprivileged teen girls currently residing in foster care. S.W.E.E.T. is an acronym for Self-Worth Encourage Empower Thrive. The goal of the S.W.E.E.T. Event lies within the title and the purpose is to “build self-worth from inside, to outside experience.” The day included workshop activities, professional makeovers sponsored by JM Hair Gallery and a three-course dinner sponsored by Lindo Michochan.

Programming Coordinator, Edylynn Quijano stated, “We wanted an event that will help jump start the year for our teens girls and help them to value themselves as individuals and encourage them to take responsibility for their own lives.”

EQ-pr-sweet-1-18-03The day began with workshop activities presented by Founder and President of That ADOPTED Girl, Juliana Whitney wherein attendees made an “About Me” book to encourage each girl’s sense of self. Then the girls had an interactive full face make up demonstration presented by Make-up Artist and Eagle Quest Foster Parent, Oscar Camacho. Each girl was given a gift bag filled with make-up, and learned how to apply their own makeup step by step to create a natural and fresh every day look. After a quick and delicious lunch, the girls headed to JM Hair Gallery. Typically closed on a Monday, the lovely ladies at JM Hair Gallery came to work on their day off to participate in the S.W.E.E.T. EVENT for our girls. The amazing stylists were able to give them a fresh hair style or up-do make over. Each girl was also provided with goodie bags containing hygiene products and cosmetics. Then off to be wowed by the hilarious and energetic comedian Jeff Civillico at the Flamingo hotel. We received a group discounted rate for our S.W.E.E.T. Event that allowed our girls to see an amazing family fun show on the world famous Las Vegas Strip. After the show, Mr. Civillico posed for group photos with the girls and provided them with autographed posters. Our night ended with a delicious dinner at Lindo Michochan where the girls were serenaded by a guitarist and singer while enjoying authentic gourmet Mexican cuisine.

“You could see the strength and confidence given back to these young ladies after their hair and make-up makeovers! The girls literally transformed into smiling, glamorous and self-assure young women! To witness that was truly a taste of SWEET success!” -Edylynn Quijano

Eagle Quest Celebrates Our 2015 High School Graduates With A Night of Fun & Excitement

Las Vegas, NV — June 16, 2015. On June 15th, 2015 Eagle Quest held its 4th annual “On Top of the World” Grad Night Celebration. One of Eagle Quest’s favorite things is to celebrate client milestones and when Children from the foster care system graduate from high school we love to recognize this monumental accomplishment. The limo departed from our office with class of 2015 graduates; some even earning the prestigious Millennium Scholarship. The limo ride was filled with joy and anticipation, the recent graduates could not wait for the first class evening that was planned exclusively for them. As the limo made it to the Stratosphere the new graduates quickly made their way up 829 feet to the observation deck where infamous rides like the Big Shot, Insanity, X-Scream and coveted Sky Jump awaited them. After hitting the rides hard our graduates were treated to a five-course meal that they would never forget; some amazing desserts complimented the meal perfectly. Soon after, it was back to the rides again celebrating all of their hard work over the last four years. The limo ride home was filled with laughter and reminiscing about the unforgettable evening. One youth remarked” This by far was the best evening of my entire life”. That comment made the accompanying Eagle Quest team members realize that they were part of something special that would never be forgotten by these impressive young graduates. We eagerly look forward to celebrating next year with the Class of 2016 and wish the 2015 Eagle Quest high school graduates success and prosperity in their future endeavors. We are so proud of you all!
